A question I get asked a lot is; what’s the difference between a corporate dental practice and a normal family dentist practice? To begin with, there are basically two types of dentists. The dentist you see in the office every morning and every evening are a professional, whereas the other is a regular person who works from his or her own home. Corporate dental practices are becoming more prevalent in larger cities across the nation and even starting to have seen them pop up in more localized communities as well. That is why I thought it was worth taking a moment to chat to you about the major differences in both local dentistry and corporate, dental practices, such as Dr. B.
One of the biggest differences between the two is the levels of service. Obviously the dentists in a large city will treat more patients overall because of their greater numbers and thus have better service. But in a smaller town, especially one with limited resources, how much care does the dental care received by each patient get? That is a hard question to answer because it depends on the individual case. But generally speaking, it is a fair question to ask.
One thing that many patients ask is; do those private practice dentists offer any special deals or savings? Well, yes, and often times there are. Most of the time, corporate dental clinics offer discounts to those patients that switch from their private practice plan to the public option. In some cases the savings are so great, that it may be worth switching to the public plan.
So what is there to know about these two kinds of dental practices? Well, both have their benefits and drawbacks. As far as pricing is concerned, both are very competitive in this field. If you live in an area where both of the dentists are highly rated, then choosing a private practices may be a slightly tougher decision, but that does not mean that it is not worth the switch.
The biggest thing that either of these dentists can offer their patients is a more personalized experience. Most people realize that going to the local dentist is nothing like taking a trip to the 5th avenue mall. We know that we need to have our teeth cleaned up and polished every now and then, and that professional dentists do this routinely. But when a person is taken to their first appointment with a new dentist, it’s like meeting someone new. They feel extremely nervous about this meeting, sometimes uncomfortable because they know that this is not their normal dentist, this is someone who appears to them to be different.
With a good relationship with your local dentist, you will feel more comfortable with him or her because you will know that he or she has your best interests in mind and not just his or her own. You will be able to get more attention from your dentist if you choose a corporate dental practices, instead of a private practice. You may even find yourself more apt to keep your annual teeth cleaning scheduled with your preferred provider, if you like what you’re hearing from your provider and know that you’ll be getting exactly what you want when you meet with him or her.
